A Purple Wurm attacks a band of adventurers
Digging below, swimming through the earth are some of the largest and primal of all beasts, the wurms. Wurms are some of the most fearsome beasts on Orelisle. They are gigantic, armored worms with a prowess in burrowing and swallowing livestock whole in their toothy maws. Many wurms call the swamps, deserts, or frozen wastelands home; though technically they could live anywhere. Entirely wild, no one has ever tamed a wurm. Wurms have some of the most durable, toughest exoskeletons known on Orelisle, capable of withstanding dragon's fire and nay impenetrable by the sharpest arrow. Wurms are known to have ferocious appetite, eating whatever whenever they can. Along with, there are several types of wurm; ranging from purple wurms that swallow one whole, to frost wurms with freezing pinscers and black wurms spewing acid. While wurms are terrifying and groundshaking beasts, they are rare. Few ever encounter a wurm and even less live to tell about it. What is known about wurms is that it is not magic or experimentation or extraplanar shenaniganry, wurms are pinnacles of physical capacity.
